StoryCorps Shorts: September 11 Stories: Always a Family

In the summer of 2010, POV sat down with the Rauch Brothers, the animating team behind the StoryCorps Shorts. Watch outtakes from their interview and find out how these Emmy-nominated animated documentaries are created.

On the morning of September 11th, Michael Trinidad called his ex-wife, Monique Ferrer, from the 103rd floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower to say goodbye.

StoryCorps launched on October 24, 2003, in Grand Central Terminal in New York City. It was admittedly something of a crazy idea: put a recording booth in the middle of one of the busiest train stations in the world, then invite pairs of people to come in and interview each other about the most important moments in their lives.

On September 11, 2001, the Vigiano brothers responded to the call from the World Trade Center, and both were killed while saving others.
